BUILD LEADERSHIP BY SCOUTING ACTIVITIES

Children are generation of our nation, because they must build their character, their knowledge and their skill. Children are generation of this nation leader. The educator have obligation for developing them. If our children aren’t have skill for competition in the world so educators is bad.

Leadership building for children is not easy, because it need method from educator for teaching them. Leadership education can’t verbalism but leadership education must apply by student.

The leadership education isn’t only lead of the line, or lead for praying. But, leadership education is learning for universal lead. Student must lead their selves, their friend of group and they must lead society next time.

Scouting activity is a method for teaching student about leadership education. They’ll be trained about management, braveness, speak in front of peoples and taken a grip on.

There are some problems of teaching education like as:
1. Students have high egoism yet.
2. Students have high shy yet.
3. Students are not brave yet.
4. Students are not understanding about some instruction of teacher.

Some problems above can anticipation by some method of scouting activity.

Scouting Activity Description

Scouting activity is activity of Indonesian Scout. It is develop by Indonesian Scout Organization. The Indonesian Scout Organization born on August 14th in 1961. This Organization has 40 billion members now.

Member of Indonesian Scout have a principle. They mention it by Tri Satya and Dasa Dharma. All members must application Tri Satya and Dasa Darma in their life as life principle. Content of their principle is about good character, skill, society. If we look education of Indonesian scout so we can mention about scouting education is developing head, hear, and hand.

Head
In this category we can main that Indonesian Scout Education is developing knowledge. Member of this organization will be trained how they think.

Heart
This category we can main that Indonesian scout is developing emotional and spiritual. Member of this organization will be trained how managing their emotional in order to can managing their selves.

Hand
This category main Indonesian scout developing skill, this is very useful by someone for living in this world. We can image if someone don’t have skill so they’ll suffer in the world.

For creating categories of above many job must do by educator. It is:

1. Educator must have real program
All jobs if don’t have planning, so don’t hope that job will success. Then, this method of scouting activity must have good planning. And that program must have long oriented. The program of scouting must have universal development.

2. Educator must creating creative, innovative and effective activities.
Many activities give to student, but we must examine, what that activities effective for build student? Creating creative, innovative and effective activities must do by educator. If we aren’t creating interest activities so our program will dislike by student.

3. Don’t give talk very much.
Student will fill boring if educator or teacher gave them talk very much. So we must give them talk less.

4. Educator must have democracy character.
Educators aren’t commander of army or military. But, educators are someone who gives knowledge to students. We don’t give them instruction like as commander to army. But, our job is teaching and examine to them.

5. Give them a freedom for build their selves
We must give them a freedom while make a program. But, the freedom for them must have a limit. We must aim them for success program. In this context the student must can lead and be led.


This is picture while we discussion about implement 1st Scouting Group Contest.

They are leader from all students. And they are implement about this discussion. Teacher only open this meeting.

Condition while discussion

The profit of this method is:

1. Teacher isn’t needs extra energy to aim all students, because there are some students to be leader for their friend.
2. Student will be trained for their leadership.
3. Student will be trained about speak in front of peoples.
4. Student will be trained about management of an organization.

This method gave output achievement, like as:
1. The graduates of Cimangkok Elementary School get some achievement in Junior High School.

I talked at end semester with graduated of Cimangkok Elementary School by face book. His name is Ahmad Dzahby. He say to me that he get 7th rank in their class in Al – Ghazali Junior High School. And I ask to him about his leadership. He say to me that he is recruited by their friend in there be chairman of School intra student organization.

2. Some graduates of Cimangkok Elementary School be leader in their next school, although in Cimangkok 

Elementary School they is low student or passive student.
I talked with graduates while I implemented 1st Scouting Group Contest. I talked with them about quality of Cimangkok Elementary School Graduates. They say that graduates of Cimangkok Elementary School have could compete with other school graduated in achievement. Graduates of Cimangkok Elementary School usually become leader in their class. They also said that low student be high student there.

Conclusion
I can get conclusion about this method that build leadership for student correct by scouting activity. Because in scouting activity student build not only theory but also they study about one by practice. They are built their intellectual, emotional, and spiritual.  So, I think this method very correctly for leadership developing.

Teacher in this method is as facilitator about student. Therefore teachers must build their selves about their knowledge, about their skill and about their emotional.

Proven in Cimangkok Elementary School the graduates get some achievement and some students in there have leadership very good.
